Mentorship for growth: empowering our people across Europe & Africa

by | Jun 11, 2025 | Culture & Capabilities, Leadership, Talent & Development

At Inchcape, every day creates opportunities to make an impact – for our colleagues, our OEM partners and our wider industry as we work together to shape the future of mobility. That ethos is at the heart of our Europe & Africa Mentoring Programme, launched by our Regional Talent & Development team to empower Inchcapers to learn and share knowledge.
For the second year in a row, the programme connects colleagues from different backgrounds and career stages so they can share experiences, realise their maximum potential and grow a global business together. This is an investment in our people, to help them transform into the leaders of the future.

What does the programme look like in action?

Running from May 2025 to December 2025, the programme connects 26 mentees with 22 mentors, with the aim of fostering career development opportunities and sharing experiences. Pairs are going to have at least six mentoring sessions in this timeframe, working to achieve the mentee’s goals. To support this process, the regional Talent & Development team will also provide two mentoring labs for both mentees and mentor group.

Each mentorship is unique, creating a space for meaningful exchange – encouraging mentees to reflect deeply, think boldly and drive their personal growth process. By sharing experience and perspective, mentors empower mentees to sharpen their business insight and progress on their leadership journey.

The Europe and Africa Mentoring Programme was launched for the first time last year and proved to be a strong success, achieving an average satisfaction rating of 4.6 out of 5, with 96% of participants saying it met or exceeded their expectations. Participants said that the programme had helped them to become more self-aware, broaden their mindset, recognise the value of feedback and strengthen their leadership skills. The programme also revealed the depth of expertise held collectively by Inchcape and offered valuable insights into the realities of different markets across the region.

Here is what Inchcapers have to say about the programme:

Magdalena Masternak, Head of Talent and Development, Europe & Africa
“There’s a real sense of positive momentum across our mentoring community. As we connect and collaborate, people are starting to recognise the depth of our collective knowledge – and the incredible potential there is in this organisation when it comes to mutual support, common problem solving and sharing best practices from market to market. That’s the true value in this programme and I look forward to seeing its results.”

Aurimas Tamašauskas, Country Manager, Inchcape Lithuania
Mentor
“For me, mentoring is about paying it forward. Throughout my career, I’ve had people who took the time to guide me, and I feel privileged to now be able to do the same for others. At Inchcape, I’m constantly impressed by the potential of our emerging talent; It’s incredibly fulfilling to build those one-on-one connections and watch someone grow into their strengths, as they develop into the next generation of leaders.”

Genet Teka, Parts Sales & Distribution Manager, Moenco, an Inchcape company:
Mentee
“I chose to join the mentoring programme to grow both personally and professionally by learning from experienced leaders. I believe this journey will help me gain new perspectives, build valuable connections and contribute more effectively to our organisation.”

Looking ahead

This commitment to continuous learning and doing our best work is central to how we grow at Inchcape. Through opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues and taking on new challenges, our people are supported to maximise their potential and step into what’s next.

A special thank you to Magdalena, Aurimas and Genet for sharing their valuable insights on the mentoring programme. Their reflections highlight how this initiative supports colleagues across Europe & Africa in realising their potential and growing their leadership skills. Here’s to another year of learning, connection and shared success.
